Snowfall warning issued for Prince George, Pine Pass, Highway 16 east

Time to work off all that holiday feasting by shovelling some snow.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Prince George, the Pine Pass and Highway 16 between Tete Jaune Cache and the Alberta border.

A long period of snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm is expected. A low pressure system will move across central B.C .Friday and Saturday. Snow is expected to begin Friday morning, and will intensify Friday night. Snow will ease on Saturday as the system moves into Alberta.

Through the Cariboo region, higher snowfall amounts are expected near the Cariboo Mountain with lower snowfall amounts near Williams Lake and Quesnel.

In addition to heavy snow, this system will also produce strong winds beginning Friday afternoon and continuing through Saturday. These winds combined with falling snow may locally reduce visibility further in blowing snow.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
