Most people shower before they go to work. City employee Ryan Gallo showered while at work earlier this month.

After a semi truck sheared off a hydrant, Gallo had the unenviable task of shutting the water off at the gushing hydrant. Paul LaCasse captured the entire incident on video and posted it to Hell Yeah Prince George, which prompted a shout-out from Coun. Kyle Sampson at Monday’s city council meeting.

“I’m really proud of the team of people that we get to work with at the city,” said Sampson. “Today, I saw a post on social media where I think someone had hit a fire hydrant and it was blowing 20 feet in the air. There is a video of a gentleman who works for the city — under Dave Dyer’s team — Ryan Gallo, who was in the freezing cold just soaking himself to get that thing shut off.”

It was definitely cold and, at times, hard to breathe under the onslaught of water.
