Spruce Kings lose in OT to Nanaimo

Gunnar Wegleitner scored at the 4:39 mark of overtime to give the Nanaimo Clippers a 3-2 OT victory over the Prince George Spruce Kings Sunday.

With the extra point for the overtime loss, the Spruce Kings scooped five of a possible six points on the weekend road trip with wins over Powell River Friday and Alberni Valley Saturday.

Ben Poisson opened the scoring in the first period for the Spruce Kings. The Clippers, however, came roaring back with two unanswered goals in the middle frame.

Tyler Schleppe even things back up early in the third.

Bradley Cooper made 25 saves in the Spruce Kings net for the loss while Jordan Naylor made 34 saves in the Clippers’ net for the win.
