Ben Brar broke the tie with less than four minutes to go as the Prince George Spruce Kings got past the Alberni Valley Bulldogs 2-1 Saturday.

Ben Poisson opened the scoring for the Spruce Kings early in the first. Mitch Deelstra replied for the Bulldogs halfway through the second and the teams remained deadlocked until Brar found the twine on the power play. Nick Bochen and Patrick Cozzi got the assists on the game-winning goal.

Poisson then got a boarding penalty at the 16:40 mark of the third, forcing the Spruce Kings to kill the penalty to preserve the win.

Logan Neaton got the win in the Spruce Kings net, stopping 25 of the 26 shots he faced. John Hawthorne made 32 saves in the Bulldogs’ net for the loss.

The Spruce Kings will be in Nanaimo this afternoon to take on the Clippers.
