Blazers torch the Cougars

It was a forgettable night for the Prince George Cougars Saturday, losing 5-1 to the Kamloops Blazers at the CN Centre. Mike MacLean scored the only Cougars goal late in the third period, as they generated a season-low 14-shots. The Blazers snapped a four-game winless skid with the win. The loss ended the Cougars mini two-game win streak.

GAME NOTES

JERMAINE TRAIN: Blazers forward Jermaine Loewen loves playing the Cougars. Dating back to last season, Loewen has nine goals and 17 points in his last 11 games against the Cougars. Loewen scored twice on Saturday, including the game-winning goal in the first period. The Blazers have won seven-straight in Prince George dating back to March 18th, 2017.

FIESTY AFFAIR: Saturday’s game saw four fighting majors handed out in just nine-seconds. Josh Maser dropped the gloves against Zane Franklin in the first, then nine-seconds later, Austin Crossley squared up with Montana Onyebuchi.

SPECIAL TEAMS: The Blazers second period goal ended the Cougars run of five-straight games without surrendering a power-play goal. Going into Saturday’s game, the Cougars had scored eight power-play goals in their last seven games.
