Violent few days in Dawson Creek

It has been a very busy few days for Dawson Creek RCMP.

Drive by shooting

On Tuesday, November 6, in the evening hours, Dawson Creek RCMP received a report of a shooting that occurred on 10th street and 107th avenue in the community.

A man was driving and felt that he was being followed by another vehicle. As a result, he turned his vehicle around to confront the suspect vehicle and an occupant of the suspicious vehicle fired several shots in the direction of the victim. The victim’s vehicle was struck several times however the victim was unharmed.

The investigation is ongoing and RCMP are seeking information from anyone that may have heard the shots or noticed suspicious activity, vehicles, or persons on or near 10th street and 107th avenue in Dawson Creek on the evening of November 6.

It is believed that this is a targeted incident and police have no information to suggest that the greater public is at further risk.

Assault

On Wednesday November 7, at 9:05 a.m. Dawson Creek RCMP were notified of a victim suffering serious injuries. A man was found on Landry Rd in the area of Rolla near Dawson Creek and investigation has determined that he may have been in the area for some time, possibly overnight.

RCMP are seeking information from any witnesses that may have noticed suspicious activity, vehicles, or persons on Landry Road in the Rolla subdivision northeast of Dawson Creek on or near November 6-7.

It is believed that this matter was targeted and police have no information to suggest that the greater public is at further risk.

Home invasion

On Thursday November 8 at 8:34 a.m. Dawson Creek RCMP were notified of a home invasion which had just occurred at a unit in the Hillcrest Motel in Pouce Coupe.

When police arrived, it was determined that the victim had been assaulted and that the suspect had stolen a black Dodge dually pickup. The pickup was located later in the day abandoned on Road 201 off of Hwy 49 near the Alberta border.

Dawson Creek RCMP are seeking information from any witnesses that may have noticed suspicious activity, vehicles, or persons at the Hillcrest Motel in Pouce Coupe on November 8, or anyone that may have observed the black Dodge dually pickup being left on Road 201 off of Hwy 49 near the Alberta border later that day. 

Attempted murder

A 30-year-old man is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds and two other men are in custody following a shooting in Dawson Creek November 9.

The call came in at about 10:30 p.m. and police responded to the an area near the intersection of Alaska Hwy and 17th Street where the found a 30-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The investigation has resulted in the arrest of two men. Ghislain Cormier, 22, and and Chase Schwab, 20, have both been charged with attempted murder and forcible confinement as well as multiple firearms-related offences.

Both men remain in police custody and will appear in Provincial Court on Tuesday November 13. Police believe this to be a targeted offence and have no information to suggest that the greater public is at further risk.

Police have not indicated any of these incidents are related.
