Three hundred of the Prince George Hospice Society’s recent 50/50 draw didn’t make it into the draw barrel.
A total of 10,098 tickets were sold during the annual draw and 300 of them weren’t included due to “an internal error,” according to a statement from the society this morning.
“The Prince George Hospice Society apologizes for the error, and recognizes the importance of correcting the process to prevent this error from occurring in the future,” reads the statement.
The society has notified the BC Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch, is sending refunds to the people affected, and launching an investigation into the error.
“While the investigation is on-going and we cannot speculate about the potential outcome, we are committed to taking appropriate action based on the results of the investigation,” according to the statement. “The people affected will be provided with a refund and will receive a cheque in the mail. As we will be contacting the people affected by the error, no action is required from people that purchased 50/50 tickets.”
The 50/50 tickets not in the barrel are tickets:
5551-5600
5701-5750
7001-7050
7201-7250
8101-8150
8251-8300
The error did not affect the Dream Home Lottery draw or early bird draws. The tickets for the Dream Home Lottery were purchased separately, and after noticing this issue hospice audited the Dream Home Lottery tickets to ensure all of the tickets would be included in the draw.
