Americans down Cougars in shootout

The Prince George Cougars were 20-minutes away from a split with the Tri-City Americans, but the visitors had other ideas. The Americans erased a 3-1 third period deficit, in their 4-3 shootout win over the Cougars on Wednesday night. The Cougars finish their three-game home stand with a 1-1-0-1 record.

Game Notes

Streaking: Josh Curtis extended his point-streak to six-games with an assist on the Cougars second goal. The Captain now has five goals and nine points in his last six games. In 13 games this season he has 10 points.

Trending:Wednesday was the Cougars first loss when leading after two periods; they’re now 2-0-0-1. The Americans picked up their first win when trailing after the first, as they’re now 1-4-0-0.

Short-Staffed:Both teams finished with just 10 forwards. The Cougars Ilijah Colina left the game after the first period with an undisclosed injury. The Americans Blake Stevenson was handed a five-minute checking to the head major penalty and a game misconduct in the first period. The two teams dressed 11 forwards and seven defencemen.

Up Next:The Cougars (5-6-0-2) hit the road for a quick, one-game trip down to Kelowna to face the Rockets on October 27th; puck drop is 7:05 p.m.
