Spruce Kings tame the Wild at home

It wasn’t as close as the score might indicate.

The Prince George Spruce Kings outshot the Wenatchee Wild 30-17 at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena Thursday en route to a 3-2 victory.

After a scoreless first period, Nolan Welsh got the Spruce Kings on the board early in the second with Ben Brar and Ben Poisson assisting.

Christophe Fillion tied the game up a few minutes later on the power play. Prince George, however, took over the game by the end of the second on goals by Dustin Manz and Liam Watson-Brawn.

Lucas Sowder added one early in the third to get the Wild within one, but then the Spruce Kings shut the door.

The Spruce Kings sit atop the Mainland Division with 15 points and a record of seven wins, two losses, and and overtime loss.

The Spruce Kings will host the Victoria Grizzlies tonight at 7 p.m. at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
