Saturday’s Wine Lover’s Dinner, in support of the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, raised $74,072.

Coast Inn of the North chef Alden Kiland provided a five-course culinary delight paired with carefully selected wines that provided the flavours, sights, and smells of the pacific coast to an amazing crowd that opened their hearts and wallets.

“The evening was amazing – it always is,” said Judy Neiser, CEO for Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, in a press release. “The energy in the room was exciting and we are so thrilled with what this partnership for healthcare has done once again. The Coast Inn of the North, Jim Pattison Broadcast Group and the generosity of those who attended really made for a perfect evening with great outcomes for healthcare in the North and education in the North. Detecting early with a more accurate diagnosis is key to treatment and the better educated or healthcare professionals are the better the long term results will be.”

Coast Hotels partnered with the Jim Pattison Broadcast group years ago to initiate this event and it seems as though each year the evening doesn’t disappoint. Proceeds will go to Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation to support much needed learning equipment at the Northern Clinical Simulation Lab at UHNBC. Clinical Simulation is a valuable learning tool for physicians, students and clinical staff as well as first responders throughout the North.

Clinical simulation is defined as “an attempt to replicate some or nearly all of the essential aspects of a clinical situation so that the situation may be more readily understood and managed when it occurs for real in clinical practice.” This includes the purchase of a newborn training simulator, a SIM NewB and potentially other simulation equipment.

“We are so proud of our relationship with Spirit of the North,” said Coast Inn of the North General Manager Arun Mutalik. “They make huge contributions to our quality of life and we love celebrating the work they do. While the event allows us to showcase the talents of our team, it is the community who humble us with their incredible generosity. We are honoured to host this event and we will continue the journey.”
