Youths who stole school bus in Fort St. John identified

Information from the public was instrumental in Fort St. John police identifying five youths who apparently stole and then vandalized a school bus August 26.

The bus was taken from the School District 60 transportation parking lot in Fort St John around midnight.  Police issued a public plea for help last week showing surveillance footage obtained from the bus. Five youths; two girls and three boys, were identified as the culprits.  The bus was vandalized and then parked outside of town where it was located by police.  The youths caused approximately $5,000 worth of damages.  The bus was returned to the school district before the first day of school.

“The overwhelming and timely response from the public is greatly appreciated,” said Const. Chad Neustaeter. “This information will be very useful to the ongoing investigation.”

The lead investigator is continuing the investigation with the information received from the public.
