Cougars drop 5-2 decision to Rockets

The Kelowna Rockets earned their first win of the season, upending the Prince George Cougars 5-2 Saturday night at the CN Centre. The Rockets top line of Nolan Foote, Leif Mattson and Kyle Topping accounted for four of five goals. The loss snapped the Cougars two-game win streak. Prince George ends September with a 2-2-0-1 record

Blast Off: The Kelowna Rockets took a page out of the Cougars playbook, as they were off to a fast start Saturday. After seeing the Cougars scored twice inside the first three-minutes Friday, the Rockets countered by scoring three goals before the 10-minute mark of the first. Their three first period goals coming after they failed to score in the first period in their previous four games.

Blue-Line Production: The Cougars blue-line continues to produce. Both of their goals Friday came from defencemen and two rear-guards are inside the top four in team scoring. Ryan Schoettler is second in team scoring with a pair of goals and four points. Joel Lakusta is fourth with three assists.

Streaks:Ethan Browne picked up an assist Saturday to extend his point streak to four-games; he has two goals and two assists in those four games.
