The Prince George Cougars picked up their first win of the 2018-2019 regular season Wednesday, doubling up the Kelowna Rockets 4-2 at Prospera Place. It was the Cougars first of nine meetings with the Rockets this season. Vladislav Mikhalchuk was named the game’s first star, as he finished with a goal and an assist.
Losing Streak Snapped: Wednesday, the Cougars won in Kelowna for the first time in nearly two years; a run of six-straight losses. Before tonight, the last Cougars win at Prospera Place was on November 15, 2016, also a 4-2 win. Tonight, was the first of nine meetings between the Cougars and Rockets this season. They play each three times in the next four days.
Power Surge: Ryan Schoettler’s first period power-play ended an 0-11 run for the Cougars power-play to start the season. The penalty-kill was excellent too, killing-off all seven power-plays surrendered. The penalty-kill is 16-19 in the first three-games of the season.
