The Victoria Royals special teams dominated Saturday, accounting for each of their five goals in their 5-1 victory over the Prince George Cougars. The Royals scored three times on the power-play and added two short-handed goals, as they swept the weekend doubleheader against the Cougars.
Special Team Struggles- Through two games, the Cougars power-play is a combined 0/11, with two short-handed goals against. The Royals scored short-handed goals on the Cougars first two man-advantages in the first period. Last season the Cougars surrendered 12 short-handed goals in 72 games.
What Can Browne Do For You- Ethan Browne scored his first goal of the season in the first period to tie the game 1-1. Reid Perepeluk burst down the right-wing before dishing to Browne who redirected the puck over Outhouse. Browne scoring his first of the season in his second game. It took him 33-games last season to score his first.
Up Next- The Cougars head up to Kelowna on Wednesday to face the Rockets at Prospera Place. It’s the first of three-straight against the Rockets, as the two teams face-off in Prince George on September 28 and 29. Kelowna is winless in their first two games, after being swept by the Kamloops Blazers in a weekend home-and-home series.
