At least 10 RCMP vehicles converged on a downtown apartment building when a fellow officer, concerned for his own safety, issued a call for immediate assistance.

The officer made the call from the apartment building in the 100-block of Quebec Street at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Fellow officers were quick to respond.

Subsequently, a 27-year-old man was arrested for assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest and mischief.  No injuries were reported.

The man has been released on a promise to appear for court on October 3.
