City council has decided, unanimously to suspend the Queensway Court Motel’s business licence at the end of the month.
The decision to suspend the licence for six months was made during a special council meeting Wednesday.
The motel’s owner, Soo Hyun Won, had requested that a previous suspension be cancelled or postponed to allow Won to make improvements to the motel to address the high number of police call-outs to the location.
Supt. Warren Brown of the Prince George RCMP detachment said the motel is one of the top 10 spots officers are regularly called out to. He said that from January to the end of June this year there were 100 more calls to the location on Queensway than there were in 2018.
Won said he has installed a new phone system in an attempt to reduce the number of dropped 911 calls, installed three new security cameras and security doors limiting access to the second floor.
Council was not swayed and decided to revoke the licence for six months.
