Crews on the Nadina Lake and Verdun Mountain fires observed aggressive fire behaviour Wednesday with winds gusting up to 40km/hr. The Nadina Lake fire is currently 79,614 hectares in size and the Verdun Mountain fire is currently 17,880 hectares in size.
The BC Wildfire Service and the Bulkley Nechako Regional District are making allowances for critical life resources (ie: medicine, fuel for generators, food, etc.) to be brought to the Southside Ferry Terminal via a permit pass that is issued through the Bulkley Nechako Regional District. The BC Wildfire Service is now working with local resources who previously were working independently of wildfire operations. Given this collaboration, fuel is now being brought over for all suppression efforts and heavy equipment needs.
