A woman is in custody after police tracked down a stolen vehicle in the Hart last night.
Police say that at approximately 5:15 a.m. on August 7, they received a report of a stolen vehicle from the 1800 block of Oak Street in Prince George. The 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup had been stolen sometime between midnight and 5 a.m. the same morning.
At approximately 8 p.m., General Duty officers spotted the vehicle being driven near the intersection of Highway 97 and Chief Lake Road in the Hart. Before emergency equipment could be activated, the vehicle fled the area at a high rate of speed. In the interest of public safety, police did not pursue.
A few minutes later the vehicle was located being driven on North Kelly Road. A spike belt tire deflation device was used to stop the vehicle and a 30-year-old woman was arrested fleeing on foot. She was held in custody overnight and will make her first appearance in court later today. The accused is well known to Prince George RCMP for property related offences and is a Detachment Priority Offender.
The investigation is continuing.
