Sixth Ave./George St. intersection temporarily closed

The City of Prince George has temporarily closed the intersection at Sixth Avenue and George Street as it continues work related to the construction of the parkade and condominium project beside City Hall. Work at the intersection is involving city water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and district energy infrastructure.

While the intersection is closed to traffic, pedestrian access is still available.

Businesses in the area remain open for normal hours. The City is also providing free off-street parking nearby during weekday evenings and all day on weekends and stat holidays. These areas are the City Hall parking lot, the Days Inn parking lot on Dominion between Sixth and Seventh avenues, and the first floor of the Plaza Parkade at Fifth Avenue and Queensway.

Construction related to the parkade and condo development had previously closed Patricia Boulevard near the intersection with Queensway to the City Hall parking lot entrance. Work in this area has completed for the time-being and Patricia is now open again.
