Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Quesnel/Hixon area and possibly Prince George.
At 6:20 p.m., Environment Canada meteorologists were tracking an organized line of severe thunderstorms moving through Highway 16 from Hixon to Quesnel. This line continues to move to the east at 30 km/h.
These thunderstorms are capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
