Quesnel RCMP were kept busier than in past years with calls for service over the Billy Barker Weekend.
From 6 p.m. on Thursday July 19 until Monday July 23 at 6 a.m. Quesnel RCMP responded to the following:
- 173 calls for service
- 33 people were arrested for causing a disturbance or being intoxicated and unable to care for themselves in public
- 15 people were arrested for other criminal code offences
- 1 man was arrested for assaulting two police officers
- 49 people were held in cells
- 6 Immediate Roadside Prohibitions for alcohol related offences were issued
In Comparison to the same time period over Billy Barker Days in 2016:
- 149 calls for service
- 33 people were arrested for causing a disturbance or being intoxicated and unable to care for themselves in public
- 5 people were arrested for other criminal code offences
- 38 people were held in cells
- 4 Immediate Roadside Prohibitions for alcohol related offences were issued
