On Friday, Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond, and Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris, will lead their Big Bike teams on a 20-minute bike ride through Prince George’s Civic Plaza to raise funds for Heart & Stroke.
Heart and Stroke is committed to making an impact in women’s heart and brain health. Time to See Red is Heart & Stroke’s powerful new awareness campaign to support women’s heart and brain health, aimed at galvanizing Canadians to push for and make changes, and at a faster pace than we have seen in the past.
“Monies raised through Big Bike will enable us to fund research, by women for women, so we can better understand how to diagnosis, treat and prevent cardio vascular disease and stroke in women,” says Adrienne Bakker, CEO, Heart & Stroke, BC & Yukon.
Bond is a strong supporter of Heart & Stroke for personal reasons. Her husband, Bill Bond, underwent open heart surgery in 2012 and thanks to the excellent care and outreach and support of Heart & Stroke, he is here and able to enjoy time with his two, energetic, grandsons.
Prince George has participated in Big Bike for the past 18 years. Over that time, 100 teams have participated in the event, raising close to $368,000.
