Candlelight vigil at CNC tonight in memory of Sandeep Kaur

A candlelight vigil is being held at the College of New Caledonia this evening in memory of Sandeep Kaur who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Highway 97 in front of the college Wednesday.

“Let us all come together to heal, comfort each other, and to pay tribute to our international student member, Sandeep Kaur, who is no longer with us,” reads the Facebook invitation. ” Please join us at CNC Gathering Place at 6 p.m. to hear from speakers, then join our Candlelight Vigil and a moment of silence. Candles (led) will be provided, but you are highly encouraged to bring your own if possible. Our hearts go out to her family and friends in this time of sorrow.”

Police have charged Michelle Dac, 47, with impaired driving causing death following the fatal accident that killed the College of New Caledonia student.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up help with the cost of transporting Kaur’s body back to India. It has raised more than $38,000.
