City crews will begin an operation today, June 6, to help maintain high water quality in the Hart by flushing watermains to remove sediment from the system.

Consequently, residents in the area south of Austin Road near Foothills Boulevard and Kelly Road/Highland Drive may notice cloudy water for a few hours each day over the next few weeks. The water is safe to drink, but the operation can stir up iron deposits in the watermains so it is suggested that residents avoid doing laundry from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. while the system is being flushed to reduce the risk of laundry discolouration.

Residents may also notice a limited amount of water on roads and in ditches as the operation proceeds. The project is expected to take up to two to three weeks.
