A College of New Caledonia student is dead after being hit by vehicle on Highway 97 near the college this afternoon.
Police say the accident happened around 4:40 p.m. between 18th Avenue and 22nd Avenue. The female student was transported to University Hospital of Northern B.C. but succumbed to her injuries.
The 47-year old-female driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene for impaired driving.
The highway is expected to be closed for several hours while investigators gather evidence.
