Special car wash helps Special Olympics this weekend

The weather has finally turned nice, so why not wash your car?

Better yet, why not get an RCMP officer or a B.C. Sheriff, or a Prince George Fire and Rescue firefighter to wash your car? And, you can help raise money for Special Olympics at the same time.

Police, sheriffs, and firefighters will be holding a fundraising car wash this Saturday where you can do just that.

The event will take place this Saturday at Canadian Tire and will feature members of these three public safety organizations washing vehicles for a minimum donation of $10. In addition, 50/50 raffle tickets will be sold for $5 each. With only 2,000 tickets being sold, the maximum prize to be awarded is $5,000.

Proceeds of this clean and fun event will be added to funds raised for the upcoming Law Enforcement Torch Run to be held June 7 at the Prince George RCMP Detachment. Ultimately, all the money raised from both events will be donated to Special Olympics BC to support Prince George area athletes.

Last year’s car wash was a huge success with over 50 cars washed and nearly $2,000 raised said Cpl. Craig Douglass, spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP. This will be an even bigger event this year and we look forward to partnering with Canadian Tire’s Jump Start Day happening at the same time. Come out and support both events.

Date: Saturday May 26th
Time: 10-4 p.m.
Location: Canadian Tire parking lot at 5008 Domano Boulevard

Please come out and support this worthwhile cause.

The RCMP officially supports two charities each year, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics and Cops for Cancer supporting the Canadian Cancer Society.
