High river levels have prompted the city to close an additional part of the Heritage River Trail that runs along the Nechako River east from the Cameron Street Bridge. The trail is now closed from Cameron Street Bridge, past the confluence with the Fraser, to Taylor Drive. The island in Cottonwood Island Nature Park remains closed, as is Paddlewheel Park.
The level of the Fraser River in South Fort George remains at 9.1 metres. For up-to-date information about current river levels – as well as forecasts into the following week – please visit the BC River Forecast Centre website.
Residents who live on Farrell Street near Paddlewheel Park remain on evacuation alert and are strongly advised to have an emergency kit ready in the event of an evacuation order. Please visit the Province’s PreparedBC website for information about how to prepare one of these kits.
