Randy Bachman headlines three-day Cariboo Rocks North music festival

After two sold-out, successful years hosting celebratory concerts on brewery property, Pacific Western Brewing, in partnership with CN Centre and RG Concerts is set to host the largest music festival in Prince George.

Exhibition Park will be the site of the Cariboo Rocks the North massive three-day classic rock music festival on August 10-12. The music festival is a way for PWB to step up to a bigger stage for the third annual installation of the wildly popular summer music event.

“We have seen tremendous response from the public over the past two years of this event,” said PWB’s, Kyle Sampson. “We sold out our first year in 2016 for our owner, Kazuko Komatsu’s 25th anniversary of owning the company, and again last year for PWB’s 60th anniversary celebration. For 2018, we decided to step up and go big. We believe Prince George is ready for this type of event.”

Last year’s concert at the brewery featured Trooper and April Wine. Tickets for that event sold out in an unprecedented 27 hours.

The lineup for this summer’s three-day event includes: Prism, Headpins, Honeymoon Suite, Nick Gilder & Sweeney Todd, Toronto, Little River Band, Kim Mitchell, Harlequin, Platinum Blonde, 54.40, and Randy Bachman.

The outdoor festival will take place at Exhibition Park located beside CN Centre. The custom designed site plan will be set-up to accommodate 4,000 classic rock fans per day.

“I don’t think there has ever been a festival of this calibre within city limits, so I believe this is not only exciting for us, it is exciting for Prince George!” said Sampson. “Anyone interested in going would be advised to buy their tickets fast.”

PWB believes there is a lot more to being “local” than just doing business in a city.

“Prince George is PWB’s hometown, and we are all proud of it,” said Sampson. “We believe an event of this magnitude really benefits Prince George beyond culture and entertainment, but economically as well, which is why we are partnering with Tourism Prince George to bring   people in and showcase our region.”

“This event promises to be one of the highlights of summer! We are not only building upon the two-year sold out success of PWB events, but the five-year sold out success of Rock the River in Saskatoon, the three-year sold out success of Rock the Lake in Kelowna, and Rock Ambleside Park in Vancouver. We expect people to travel from all across Northern BC to Cariboo Rocks the North to see and hear these musical legends.”

Tickets go on sale Friday May 18t at 10 a.m.
