Several people were transported to the Hospital by BC Ambulance. An infant from inside the vehicle remains in serious condition in hospital.

The driver of the vehicle that initially departed the scene has now spoken with police. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.

Erratic driving leads to crash

On Sunday, at 4:35 pm Quesnel RCMP received several calls of a dark-coloured Mustang being driven erratically along Sales Road between Red Bluff road and Highway 97.

Shortly thereafter, two off duty police officers located the vehicle with severe damage in the ditch at the corner of Sales Road and Highway 97.

Investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate the turn onto Highway 97 from Sales Road and struck the concrete no-post and ended up in the ditch.

The driver, a 50-year-old Quesnel man, was detained for investigation of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and was transported to Hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries sustained from the collision.

The investigation into this matter is still ongoing. Anyone with information about this matter who has not already spoken with investigators is asked to call the Quesnel RCMP Detachment at (250) 992-9211.
