Former Prince George mayor Shari Green is taking a second run at federal politics … this time in South Surrey-White Rock.
Green, who served as Prince George mayor from 2011-2014, decided to not seek re-election in 2014 to challenge for the Conservative nomination in the Cariboo-Prince George riding. Current MP Todd Doherty won the nomination in a first-ballot victory over Green and Nick Fedorkiw.
Green subsequently left Prince George to work with then Surrey mayor Dianne Watts, who was subsequently elected as MP in the South Surrey-White Rock riding. Watts resigned her seat to make an unsuccessful run at the B.C. Liberal party leadership.
