One dead, one injured following crash near Damms Road



One person is dead and another is in critical condition following early morning crash on Highway 97 about 20 kilometres south of Prince George.

RCMP were called out shortly after 7 a.m. to the crash involving a passenger car and a pickup truck near Damms Road.

RCMP and Emergency service personnel remain on scene and the highway is closed to traffic, however a detour, which is not open to commercial traffic, has been established via Buckhorn, Lund, Bendixon, and Holmes roads. DriveBC estimates Highway 97 will re-open to traffic by 1 p.m.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, however the roads were covered in ice and packed snow at the time of the crash.

Anyone who may have witnessed this crash, and have not yet spoken with police is asked to call the North District Traffic Services at 250 649-4004.
