Man arrested for uttering threats near Likely

On Friday afternoon Williams Lake RCMP were called to a residence on Likely Road following a report that a man residing at that residence had made threats of harm to members of his family, himself and the police.

Once police arrived it was quickly determined that the man was alone in the home. Police conducted a successful negotiation and the man was arrested at 2:30 p.m. No one was injured during this investigation.

The Williams Lake RCMP would like to thank the Emergency Health Service personnel and the Big Lake Fire Department with their assistance to ensure the area and roadway was kept clear during police negotiations.

Given the weather and terrain, it was instrumental to ensure the neighborhood and our officers were safe, said Insp Jeff Pelley, the OIC of Williams Lake Detachment.

The man has been remanded and will remain in custody. He is scheduled to make his next court appearance on Wednesday March 7 in Williams Lake provincial court.
