Chiefs blank Spruce Kings to take 1-0 series lead


The Chilliwack Chiefs picked the right time to solve the riddle that is the Prince George Spruce Kings … at least it was good for the Chiefs.

The Spruce Kings, who won the Mainland Division and home ice advantage in the playoffs, fell 3-0 to the Chiefs Friday. The Chiefs, who had all kinds of trouble with the Spruce Kings during the regular season, take a 1-0 lead in the seven-game playoff series.

Adam Berg, Will Calverley, and Tommy Lee scored for the Chiefs.

Game 2 in the series goes tonight at 7 p.m. at Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
