Rural dividend grants handed out

As part of its rural development mandate, the province is providing $10,000 so the Robson Valley Chapter of the Backcountry Horsemen Society of British Columbia can plan a multi-use trail network and rustic equine campground west of McBride.

The Backcountry Horsemen Society will use the funding to conduct a feasibility study and develop a master plan for the campground and a network on Belle Mountain that can be used by hikers, snowshoers, skiers and horse riders. The first phase of a multi-year project, the plan will support future grant applications.

The province is also is providing a total of $20,000 for projects in Vanderhoof and Fraser Lake, Forests.

The District of Vanderhoof is being awarded $10,000 to develop a report with recommendations to support a collaborative business retention, expansion and attraction program. Two phases – an assessment of the current situation and an engagement strategy – will lead to a final report.

The Fraser Lake Fire Rescue Training Society is being awarded $10,000 to complete a feasibility study related to the development of a regional training centre, and possible capital funding.
