Spruce Kings beat the Chiefs, will meet them in first round

The speculation is finally over on who the Prince George Spruce Kings will play in the first round of the BCHL playoffs.

The Spruce Kings swept both road games in Chilliwack against the host Chiefs 2-0 on Saturday to secure a playoff date against their division rivals.

After a scoreless first, Kyle Johnson potted his 15th of the season in the middle frame to give Prince George a 1-0 edge after 40 minutes.

Despite some late pressure from the Chiefs, Patrick Cozzi sealed the deal for the Spruce Kings sliding one into the empty net.

Chilliwack outshot the Spruce Kings 30-20 overall.

Bradley Cooper made all 30 saves in the victory.

The Spruce Kings will conclude their regular season Sunday in Langley at 2 PM.

Chilliwack will travel up to the RMCA next Friday and Saturday for games 1 and 2 of their season with puck drop set for 7 p.m.
