City council has, by a 5-4 vote, opened the door for a six-storey development at intersection of O’Grady Road and Stringer Crescent.
Council approved changing the Official Community Plan Monday which would allow the development.
Coun. Jillian Merrick, Frank Everitt, Murray Krause, and Brian Skakun opposed the change.
The Official Community Change was requested by Broadstreet Properties for Cantana Investments Limited, Inc. Previously the OCP allows for new buildings up to four storeys high. The change sees the OCP policy changed to read: “The maximum building height (for mid-rise residential projects) is four storeys with the exception of areas designated Neighbourhood Centre Corridor along Queensway and at the intersection of O’Grady Road and Stringer Crescent with a maximum building height of six storeys.”
