Man injured in early morning attack in his home

A 34-year-old man is recovering from his injuries this morning after two men broke into his home and attacked him.

Police were alerted to the incident shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday morning when the man attended the University Hospital of Northern B.C. with serious injuries that appeared to have been a result of an attack.

Police attended and attempted to speak with the man, who did not cooperate with police.  Through investigation, officers were able to determine that just before 8 a.m., two masked assailants forced their way into a residence on the 1700 block of Redwood Street and began attacking the victim with a large edged weapon.  The suspects fled and the victim attended the hospital.  His injuries are not considered life threatening.

All indications are that this was a targeted attack and that the general public are not at risk.

This investigation is in its early stages.  More details may be released as the investigation progresses.
