Three men, one from Prince George, have been charged with first degree murder in the death of Michael Wlater Bonin, whose body was found near Hope last spring.

The province’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) arrested Joshua Fleurant, 20, from Prince George, along with Ryan Watt, 26, and Jared Jorgenson, 27.

Bonin, who was listed as being from Prince George at the time of his murder and is now listed as being from Rycroft, Alberta, was discovered dead in the early hours of April 20, 2017. His body was found on a rural forest service road north of Hope.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called in and assumed conduct of the investigation. Over the last several months, IHIT has collected significant evidence with respect to the murder of Bonin.

IHIT investigators worked tirelessly to advance this investigation and the complexity was such that a successful resolution would not have been possible without the support of our many partners, said Corporal Frank Jang of IHIT, in a press release. We are hopeful that this can now help the family of Mr. Bonin begin their journey towards the healing process.

Although IHIT cannot get into the specifics surrounding evidence or motive as this matter is now before the court, investigators believe that this homicide was not a random incident.

Anyone with information, who may not have already come forward to police, is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca
