One person is dead following a house fire on the Williams Lake Indian Band reserve south of Williams Lake.
The fire occurred at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Williams Lake RCMP were called to assist the 150 Mile House Volunteer Fire Department at the scene. The fire department battled the blaze and reported a deceased person to the RCMP.
The investigation is in its early stages. A specially trained fire investigator will be called in to assist once the scene is safe and the fire has been completely extinguished,
said Const. Andrew Waters, Media Relations for the Williams Lake RCMP.
At this point a clear cause of the fire is not known. Police are asking anyone who may have information regarding the fire to contact the Williams Lake RCMP at 250-392-6211 or Crime Stoppers at 1800-222-8477.
