Prince George Cougars captain Dennis Cholowski (98) has been invited to Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp.

Cholowski is one of 32 players invited to Selection Camp and one of 13 invitees from the Western Hockey League. Canada’s Sport Chek Selection Camp runs December 12th-15th at the Meridian Centre in St. Catherines, Ontario.

Cholowski is third in team scoring and 11th among WHL defencemen with eight goals and 24 points in 24 games; he’s also a plus five. Cholowski has points in seven of his last nine games and his three power-play goes is second only to Kody McDonald (5) on the Cougars’ roster.

“We’re excited for Dennis and the opportunity for him to hopefully represent the Cougars and Canada at the World Juniors,” said General Manager Todd Harkins. “He’s not only one of our top players but also a great leader inside our dressing room. Dennis is a special talent and we couldn’t be happier to see him get the recognition he deserves.”

Canada’s Sport Chek Selection Camp will feature two games against a U SPORTS team on December 13th and 14th, and a game against Denmark on December 15th, before the roster is pared down. Canada will have two more exhibition games against the Czech Republic and Switzerland, before opening the 2018 World Junior Hockey Championship on Boxing Day, versus Finland in Buffalo, New York.

Cholowski will face the Victoria Royals on Sunday, December 10, in the Cougars Teddy Bear Toss Game, before departing for Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp. Tickets for the annual Teddy Bear Toss Game are available the TicketsNorth box office at the CN Centre, or online at www.ticketsnorth.ca
