Man punched, stabbed while walking near Massey Drive

 

Police are looking for an Indigenous man in his early 20s following a stabbing in the city Saturday.

Police say that just after 10 p.m. two men were walking in a parking lot near Massey Boulevard and Westwood Drive when another man punched and then stabbed one of the men. The suspect ran to a near-by white SUV-style vehicle and fled the area with another man.  All efforts to locate them was negative.

The suspect is described as:

  • First Nations male
  • Early 20’s
  • 183 cm (6′)
  • Chubby build
  • Wearing a black coat, jeans and a hat

The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.

The motivation behind this attack is not yet known.  At this point in the investigation, it appears that the suspect and victim are not known to one another.
