The body of a man who lived on a floating home near Bella Coola has been found.
Bella Coola RCMP were notified Thursday morning that the man had experienced issues with his home in that it may have been sinking, or had already sunk. There was concerns for the man’s wellbeing as he could not be located.
Police attended the dock where the floating home has been tied up and found that the home was completely destroyed.
An immediate search was activated calling on Search and Rescue, BC Parks, Department of Fisheries and Nuxalk First Nations Coastal Guardians. Although the Coast Guard and other marine search and rescue personnel were called, the weather at the time hampered all maritime search efforts.
Today, November 3, police located the man along the shoreline however he was deceased. BC Coroners Service will have conduct of the investigation and the RCMP will not be releasing any further information.
