Freaky Food Drive help student food bank at UNBC

This Halloween, the Northern Undergraduate Student Society (NUGSS) at UNBC is organizing Freaky Food Drive – a community-wide fundraiser of which 100 per cent of proceeds will benefit the NUGSS Food Bank.

Food insecurity is a growing problem on campuses across Canada, with two in five post secondary students lacking reliable access to adequate quantities of affordable and nutritious food. The student society’s goal is to combat food insecurity at UNBC by collecting donations for the NUGSS Food Bank, which is an essential resource for many members of the UNBC community.

Between 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, Freaky Food Drive participants will be ‘trick or treating’ throughout Prince George, asking for non-perishable food items or monetary donations instead of candy. Please consider giving what you can to help NUGSS keep students happy and healthy.

If your neighbourhood is not approached during Halloween but you would like to contribute, please visit their GoFundMe page at gofundme.com/freaky-food-drive or contact director of external affairs, Dara Campbell, at nugss-external@unbc.ca.
