Joe Postnikoff will be a busy guy on Sunday.

He will be the host at the home base house for the 2017 Parade of Homes, presented by the Canadian Home Builders Association Northern B.C. Located at 4906 Brink Place in the Nechako View subdivision, the home base house is where all the action starts for those who want to tour some of the newest and best-built houses in the city. There will be coffee and hot chocolate and appetizers at the house, as well as a map of the houses around town that are on the tour.

You won’t have to go far for the first ones as, along with the home base house, other houses on the tour are in the Nechako View subdivision, including the house that will be won by some lucky person in the Hospice Dream House Lottery.

“Marnie Martin from Rise Construction was the leader of the pack when it came to this house,” Postnikoff, of Boardwalk Properties, said. “She brought in a lot of local businesses to help build it … That was one thing so I knew it was a beautiful house on a beautiful lot in a beautiful subdivision.”

It has one specific feature that captures Postnikoff’s attention though:

“They did nine-foot ceilings in the basement, which is just awesome,” he said. “You don’t feel like you’re in a basement, even though you’re underground.”

The home base house is also the shuttle pick up/drop off location as well as the starting point for the Shaw Parade Scavenger Hunt,

The shuttle will leave from 4096 Brink Place at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time). Grab a complimentary coffee, hot chocolate or water first for a guided tour to each home in the parade. Win prizes on the shuttle during the tour.

You can also drive yourself. Just stop by the home base and pick up a map showing you were all the great houses on display are in the city.

The Parade of Homes goes Sunday, October 15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
