BC Liberals may be watching their own SuperBowl next February instead of the big one down south.
The party has set the weekend of February 2-4 for it leadership convention, the same weekend as SuperBowl Sunday. Former leader Christy Clark stepped down as leader after failing to gain the confidence of the legislature.
Voting will take place through a secure online platform, with a telephone option, to ensure the process is accessible in every household and region of our huge, diverse province.
There are no official candidates yet, but in hopes of getting those who do step forward known to the party and public, debates or forums will be held in Vancouver, Surrey, Prince George, Nanaimo, and the Thompson-Okanagan, as well as an event hosted by the BC Liberal Indigenous Network.
Former B.C. attorney general Geoff Plant has agreed to serve as chief returning officer to oversee the leadership election.
The deadline to join the party or renew your membership in order to vote, as well the deadline for prospective candidates to enter the race, is Friday, December 29. The cost of membership remains at just $10 for four years, or $5 for those aged 14-25.
