When everyone got together

This is a great photo. Not just because it shows many of the Prince George media types hard at work grilling politicians about the forest fire situation, but because of which politicians are present.

Front and  centre is Ralph Goodale, Federal Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, a Liberal. He is flanked by his fellow Liberal counterpart Harjit Singh Sajjan, Minister of National Defence; provincial NDP cabinet ministers Doug Donaldson and Mike Farnworth; and Conservative MP for Cariboo-Prince George Todd Doherty.

Yes, Liberals, Conservatives, and New Democrats all at the same press conference.

Too often when politicians roll into town they don’t want to, and simply don’t, acknowledge politicians of other stripes, much less share the spotlight with them.

It’s just too bad that it takes a natural disaster for that to happen.
