When you’re driving through downtown tomorrow, you’ll notice a big change on Fifth Avenue. Crews will begin painting new lines overnight that will convert Fifth Avenue from parallel parking to angled parking and reduce the traffic from four lanes to two. The change will occur between Queensway and Vancouver Streets and will add about 30 per cent more on-street parking spaces.
More work on the project will occur next week when signs are moved and new bollards are installed to distinguish areas for motorists and pedestrians.
