City now housing more than 6,000 evacuees

Evacuees from the Cariboo wildfires continue to arrive in Prince George.

As of late this morning, the total number of evacuees who have registered at the Emergency Reception Centre at the College of New Caledonia was 6,029 (4,811 adults and 1,218 children).

Included in this number:

  • 506 are in group lodging
  • 635 are in RV parking
  • 3,075 have found alternative accommodation
  • 565 have found commercial lodging

Thus far, the city has distributed roughly $458,000 in grocery vouchers.
