There are currently about 7,000 people evacuated, according to an update issued by Forests Minister John Rustad.

Additional resources will be coming to BC from other jurisdictions arriving Monday and Tuesday. The province is also in contact with the military in case it need additional assistance.

Wells Grey Park has been closed as a precautionary measure.

Fire bans are in place for much of the impacted areas and more steps will likely be taking in the coming days.

The situation will likely remain critical for many weeks as the long term weather forecast is not favorable.
