Last week the Western Hockey League released the complete 2017-18 regular season schedule and the Prince George Cougars are set to begin their 24th WHL season at home on Friday, September 22 when they kick-off a weekend double-header against the Spokane Chiefs.
Prior to puck drop on September 22, the Cougars will raise their first ever B.C. Division banner. That game marks the first of 12 feature games scheduled for the upcoming season.
“Coming off our best season ever we realize that we constantly need to be thinking about ‘bigger and better’ ideas for our fans so that we can continue to deliver the very best sports entertainment in Northern British Columbia,” said Cougars Vice President of Business, Andy Beesley, in a press release. “In addition to raising our first division banner, throughout the season we’re also going to be giving away a new roof, a new ATV and we’ll be hosting two Mega Jackpot Nights. There are a lot more outrageous plans that we can’t wait to share with our fans.”
Additional Feature Games to take note of are:
November 11th vs. Everett – A ‘Heroes Night’ Remembrance Day game where the Cougars will pay homage to the many brave heroes in our community, including those who have fought and continue to fight for our freedoms.
December 10th vs. Victoria – A 2 p.m. ‘Teddy Bear Toss’ game where families are encouraged to bring stuffed toys, socks, scarves and toques to the game. When the Cougars score their first goal, fans can throw all of their items onto the ice which will then be donated to local charities within Prince George.
February 12th vs Red Deer – A 2 p.m. Family Day matinee game. After the game our fans will be invited to stick around to paint the CN Centre ice surface!
